Atunbi Baba

This is me me me meeeeeeeeeeeeee, testing mi n new 80 pounds 50mm fixed 1.8.  If you own a canon and on a budget this lens is just as sharp as the expensive ones although it might fall short in other places.  I will be putting up a few portraits taken with this lens.  Light from my living room window and the camera set on timer.

PP.  Mixing different blend modes, i.e overlay, hard light, luminoisy. and some smoothing, Gat to hide the acne you know .. jokin

Nice shot! very well composed and I love the tones.

About the lens I have the 50mm f1.4 and the 1.8, the 1.8 is good especially if, as you have said, are on a budget, but IMHO, it dosen't compare to the f1.4 usm, in terms of speed, colour or sharpness. Pity mine got damaged. And having to do with just the f1.8, for me, dosen't meet the cut, so most of the time I use my canon ef 100mm f2.8 macro usm for my portrait work, Now thats a fantastic non canon "L" lens., and on the eos 5D it's gravy!

your smoothing technique... still has afew flaws, one side seems more overworked that the other.

Ah, finally a photographer who isn't camera-shy ;-) I like the PP you've done, the smoothening of the shot and I don't really know a lot about blend modes... but whatever it is, it looks great.

And I'm guessing this is some kind of a sepia mode? The colours are bold, yet gentle on the eyes.

Cheers!

WOW!!!! I really like this....I'm going to ask you how your got your skin to look like that if you don't mind...
Nigerian Wedding Photographer: I opened the psd image hoping to see the history but it wasn't there anymore. I tell you what i can remember. I used the lasso to COPY out the face then COPIED and paste then changed the blend to luminosity, added curve layer made an s shaped curve from two points from the face. then 50% opacity of soft light.
